(About Bali art)
(Image Balinese Dance) Balinese dances are performed every night. At a minimum you'll want to see the Barong and Rangda dance (struggle between good and evil), the Kechak fire and trance dance, and the graceful Legong dance.
(Temple) Balinese temples and shrines are abundant in Bali. Each village has one or more temples and every home has a temple. Pura (temple) Ulu Watu is perched on the edge of a cliff providing dramatic views at sunset and a chance to visit with the local monkey population.
(Guide) Balinese WILL ask you, do you have a "program" today? If you don't have one, you soon will! On this 3 hour program, our guide Agung took us on a sunset hike. He pointed out cloves, coffee, passion fruits, jack fruit, banana, nutmeg, and palm wine trees. Agung explained family life in Bali as he took us into a family's home compound. Later he explained the Hindu circle of life - Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva (Creator, Protector and Destroyer). By the way, Agung holds 3 jobs: painter, tourist guide, and hotel staff member.
(Beach) (Image Scuba) You will find many wonderful places to stay in Bali. My favorite is Taman Sari located on the northwestern coast of Bali in Pemuteran. Taman Sari is a great place to relax and meditate or explore the beautiful coral reefs right off shore. For a real treat, make a donation to the local marine turtle hatchery and free a turtle into the sea!
